NCAA water polo rankings, Week 7: UCLA moves up to No. 2 spot

New, 1 comment

There was more movement in the Week 7 poll with a shakeup in the top five, as well as the bottom five spots.

The Week 7 CWPA poll was released and there was more movement than expected due to some upsets. The two big upsets of the week were Stanford defeating UCSB 9-7. With that result, UCSB dropped from the second spot to the third spot, and Stanford moved up one spot to No. 4.

Not sure why Stanford did not jump UCSB in the polls, Stanford has a 2-1 record over UCSB this year. While there was just a three point difference in the polls, it would make sense for Stanford to be ranked ahead of UCSB. Maybe there will be a poll correction next week.

The other major shakeup in the polls was when previously unranked Bucknell defeated then-No. 16 Princeton, 10-9 last weekend. The win for Bucknell put them at No. 17 in the polls, and in a tie with Princeton.
