Week 8 Women's College Water Polo Rankings: Arizona State Moves Up To No. 4, Michigan Drops To No. 13

The Week 8 CWPA top 20 poll is out and the top three teams remained unchanged with the UCLA Bruins, Stanford Cardinal and USC Trojans a top the polls. Each of the top three went unscathed this weekend. The rest of the top-10 had some shuffling with the Arizona St. Sun Devils moving to the No. 4 spot which is the highest they have ever been ranked in program history.

Arizona State moved up after the defeated then-No. 5 California Golden Bears 10-7 at home. In that game Arizona State had early lead of 3-0 and 4-1 at the end of the first quarter as they held off any Cal comeback, so both schools switched spot. The win also puts Arizona State in a very good position for an at-large berth for the NCAA Tournament. Also, Arizona State gets to take on top ranked UCLA this weekend in Los Angeles.

UC Irvine Anteaters moved up two spots to be tied at No. 6 with Loyoal Marymount University Lions after thrashing the Colorado St. Rams 17-5 and upset then-No. 6 San Diego St. Aztecs 12-10. The Michigan Wolverines took a four-spot tumble from No. 9 to No. 13 after being upset by the unranked Brown Bears 7-5.
