The Wagner Seahawks who are ranked No. 20 in last weeks polls (the most recent week is out today) swept through the first weekend of MAAC play and are 4-0 and leading the conference. Wagner had no issue beating St. Francis, Siena or Villanova; however, they barely got past Marist 10-9. Wagner has yet to play defending MAAC champions Iona Gaels, they will host Iona on 4/1.
Second place is a tie between Iona and Marist, however in the head-to-head matchup this past weekend Marist won 13-12, and overcame a 4-0 deficit after the first quarter. The newest addition in the MAAC is VMI who was the only team to not get a win in conference play.

Weekly awards were announced with Wagner's Chelsea Beck being named the offensive player of the week by scoring 15 goals and nine assists in four games this weekend.
The defensive player went to Wagner goalie Laura Karbach who had 35 saves, six steals, four assists, a .614 save percentage and gave up only 5.86 goals over the weekend. This four game stretch was the best in Karbach's career at Wagner.
The freshman of the week went to Jessica Hamby of Marist has 12 goals in three games. In their 13-12 overtime win over Iona, Hamby scored two goals in the fourth quarter to complete their comeback to force overtime, and she also scored the game-winner in overtime.
