In one of the best games this weekend No. 2 ranked UCLA Bruins needed overtime to defeat No. 7 ranked Loyola Marymount Lions 7-6. UCLA rushed out to a two goal lead after the first quarter on goals from K.K. Clark and Brooke Martin. LMU cut the lead 2-1 on an man advantage goal by Alexandra Honny, but UCLA scored the next two goals to lead 3-1 at the half.
The third quarter is when LMU made their run as they won the quarter 3-1 and had a 5-4 lead heading into the final frame. In the fourth quarter UCLA's Hannah Sebenaler scored twice with the second goal coming with 4:08 left in regulation to put them up 6-5.
The defenses stepped up their game even more over the last four minutes, and LMU had one last chance after they stopped a UCLA 6-on-5. LMU had one last possession with six seconds left and Alexandra Honny scored in the top left corner as time expired to send the game into overtime. That goal would by Honny's fourth on the day.
In overtime neither team scored in the first of two extra periods which included each team having a 6-on-5 opportunity. The eventual game winner came when LMU's Honny was called for an exclusion which lead to a penalty shot, and UCLA's Sara Orozco converted the goal which proved to be the game winner.
LMU had a chance to tie as they were able to draw a penalty shot with five seconds left, but Kimberly Benedetiit's shot hit the cross bar giving UCLA the win.
