Day one of the MPSF tournament is underway and the the top three teams had no issue moving onto the semifinal match with Stanford, UCLA and USC easily winning. The game of the day was when No. 5 Cal upset No. 4 Arizona State 13-12 in overtime.
The start of the game saw Cal go up 2-0 before Arizona State was able to rebound to tie the game at three, and it was a back and forth game throughout. Cal actually went up 10-7 in the third quarter and then Arizona State scored three goals to tie the game with the tying goal being a penalty shot.
The game went to overtime tied at 12 and the one attempt Arizona State had in the first overtime period hit the crossbar and Cal had no such luck either to go ahead. In the second overtime period Cal hit a game winner on a fast break by goal by Dana Ochsner which was her fourth on the game.
With the win it puts Cal in the semifinals against top-seed and host Stanford.
