The Texas high school water polo state tournament is scheduled at the University of Texas for May 4 - 5 for both the boys and girls division. There are 16 teams from each side participating with four teams from Dallas, San Antonio, Houston (East) and Houston (South).
The tournament is set up with Dallas playing Houston East and San Antonio playing Houston South, and then it is seeded where the No. 1 team from each region will play the No. 4 region with the No. 2 playing the No. 3 seed. Once the tournament gets past the first round it is double elimination.
The favorite on the boys side looks to be Houston's Strake Jesuit who have wins over St. Marks who won the Dallas region is one of the best teams in the state. Strake Jesuit also has wins over Lamar who was fourth place in the Houston East region and they won the Battle Ground tournament over Clear Creek who won the Houston South region.
Strake Jesuit themselves easily won the Houston East region two weeks ago.
On the girls side, the winner is likely to come from a team from Houston with the favorite being Clear Lake, and then other contenders will be Tomball who won the Houston East Region, Baytown Sterling and Lamar.
