United States Has Exhibition Series With Hungary, Croatia

Starting on Saturday May 26 the United States men water polo team will be hosting Hungary and Croatia for a weekend of games in preparation for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Hungary and the United States are in the same draw for the Olympics and so that means it will be a good measuring stick to see where both teams stand against each other, or the two teams will just be trying different techniques and lineups as to not give anything away.

The game against Hungary will be a rematch of the 2008 Olympic finals which Hungary won 14-10 which was four years ago and the teams are a bit different, but it will be a good measuring stick.

Another purpose of these exhibitions is to evaluate who will make the Olympic team, currently there are 16 players who part of the national team, but that number needs to be cut down by three. The team will be announced on July 5 which leaves about six weeks left for evaluation.

Here is the schedule of events (all times are pacific):

May 26 :USA vs. Croatia, 6pm - Newport Harbor HS - Newport Beach, Calif.
May 27 :USA vs. Hungary, 12pm - Newport Harbor HS - Newport Beach, Calif. TV: NBC Sports Network
May 28 : Croatia vs. Hungary, 5pm - Newport Harbor HS - Newport Beach, Calif.
May 31: USA vs. Hungary (UCLA) 7 p.m.
June 1: USA vs. Croatia (Rose Bowl Aquatics Center) 7 p.m.
