In the final game in group play the United States takes on China and this is a game that Team USA has a good chance of winning since they are 1-0-1 and China is 0-2 in pool play. There will be plenty of motivation for the United States who need to win and get some help if they are to win Group A.
Currently at the top of Group A is the United States and Spain as each team has three points since the two teams played to a 9-9 draw. Since Spain as a four-goal differential lead, the United States need Spain to lose, or a tie and if there is a tie then Team USA must outscore China by five goals to win the group.
As for China they are struggling in these London Olympics, but they are a solid team as they finished fourth in the FINA World League in 2012. So far in London they have lost to Hungary 11-0 and Spain 11-6. Those two squads are good teams and China has just not been able to keep up their game, and now when they face one of the Olympic favorites in the United States.
China is already pegged for the fourth spot because even if they win and Hungary loses their match and China wins they will be tied with two points, but since China lost to Hungary the tiebreaker goes to Hungary.
So, this could be a blowout game with Team USA needing to win by a lot of goals while the outcome for China does not matter. Not saying the Chinese will roll over but their motivation to win will quickly go away if they get into an early deficit.
