Looks like the men's United States team will likely earn a bid for the 2013 FINA World Championships later this year. Team USA suffered a bad loss to host Canada in their opening round game, 10-6, but since then they have routed Argentina and Brazil.
Against Brazil, Team USA won 14-2 and were led by national team newcomer Nikola Vavic with four goals, followed by Jesse Smith who had three. The game was over after the first period when the United States took an 8-2 lead, and never looked back.
The power play was much better for Team USA, they made 6 of 7 extra man chances, as well as converted both penalty shots in the blow out win.
In Friday's game against Argentina, the United States once again had no issues in their 13-3 win. The scoring was balanced in this game with three players finding the back of the net twice. Team USA used a methodical scoring attack to slowly pull away from Argentina. They lead 3-1 after the first, 5-1 at the half, 9-2 after the third period and then scored four goals to win by 10 goals.
Team USA is now down with preliminary games and will now facing Argentina again, but this game is much more important. The winner of this game earns a bid to the 2013 FINA World Championships, and the way the United States rebounded after losing to Canada, they should get the win.
