No. 5 ranked UC Irvine Anteaters pulled off an upset as they defeated the No. 4 ranked California Golden Bears 13-11 on Saturday afternoon. Cal was looking like a team that was going to challenge for the NCAA title since they played USC so tough last week.

Irvine was trailing 6-5 at the half but they were able to come up big thanks to their third quarter scoring burst where they outscored Cal 7-2. In that third quarter, Bojan Hrlec scored three goals while Mitch Wise and Jacob Mourer each put up two apiece to pace Irvine's scoring for the quarter.

Cal was able to make it an 8-7 game before Hrlec and Mourer answered to put Irvine back up 10-7. Cal scored again to make it 10-8, and then Wise and Hrlec scored late in the quarter to extend Irvine's lead to 12-8.

Cal made one last run as they pulled two goals in the fourth quarter before Pablo Carballo scored with 1:56 left to seal the victory for Irvine.
